Dec. 12

Hey, HI! How are ya?!? Been a couple days! My energy level is half what it used to be, so if you're city only has half it's lights on, SORRY! (Inside joke!)

Um, I hear we're about to get some snow! Until then, I'll believe it when I see it!

Pfffft - NO SNOW :(

We didn't get any snow, but I'm assuming that it's cold and icy out there as we did get rain.

Today is 11/33 treatment - I'll be a third of the way done today - only 22 more to go! My friend Penny goes in for her simulation today then starts her treatments tomorrow.

My day...

1. YUM-O! My fave Christmas coffee!, 2. Entering the nursery, 3. Trees at the nursery, 4. Nursery - picking out a tree, 5. baskets of goodies, 6. Pinecones, 7. Poinsetta, 8. Nostalgic Santa's, 9. Christmas pretties, 10. Holly wreaths, 11. Pretty wreath, 12. Holly wreath, 13. Kissball, 14. berries, 15. The perfect tree!, 16. Our tree

My day started out pretty bad - I was just in an all around bad mood...it started with Paul hollering at the cat from the shower really loud to "shut up" at 6:45AM (I can sleep through cat meowing, alarms and other softer tones - but a phone rings or a man yells at a cat and I'm awake for the day). I turned my frown upside down, when we went out to look for the "perfect" Christmas tree. This is the first time I'd EVER went out to look for a tree (maybe I did as a child, I really don't remember - I tend to repress those memories) and it was so magical! Just had a great time and I was snapping pictures while Paul took care of getting the tree peeps to cut and bag up the tree and all that fun stuff.

How bout them Pats tonight! WICKED! 13-0 BABY!

The Advent calendar pic I took of today's message didn't turn out real well, so it said "Make something homemade today; whether it be food or something crafty" - I'm sure at 9pm you're going to rush out and do that right now, right!

I'll snap a pic of the lights outside our house tomorrow night - we're suppose to get a little bit of snow tonight - the white will make it glisten and make it pretty!

Tired

This one's for Dave!

Kinda tired the last couple of days, but trying to keep my normal routine bedtime and get up around the same time. Not sure if it's because of my weird sleeping woes or the treatment. I'm not normally a tired person - I usually have enough energy to run a small city!

A quote for today's advent spirit calendar...

I'll be headed out in about 30 minutes to day 8/33 of treatments. I see the Dr. today, too. I'm starting to get "pinker" in the treatment area - like a pink sunburn - it's more noticeable than last week. Other than that - doing fine!

7/33 and 22 Days left before Christmas!

Nothing exciting today!
Watch a holiday movie tonight - or at least this week! It'll lift your spirits!

PFFFT! They call that the first STORM of the season?

BRING ON THE NOR'EASTERS!

OK, I kept waking up between "crazy" dreaming and being too hot to look out the window to see if we got anymore snow. NADA! BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Speaking of being too hot and crazy dreaming....the past few years I'd lay in bed and FREEZE because I was so cold - I even went to bed with extra clothes and socks to keep warm. So, towards the end of the year, I purchased an electric blanket - PURE HEAVEN! I totally forgot this year that when my body temperature was too warm, I'd dream all night long or whatever the hell you want to call it and I'd get no rest. It was just about the time that I put away the blanket for the season and went to no blanket that I realized that I could sleep better through the night.

SO this year, I thought I won't go through that again - I'll turn on the blanket to warm the bed and turn it off when I crawl in bed and I won't be so hot through the night. Yeah, um ok...that's not working either! I'm keeping the bed to hot with my body temperature! I'm dreaming all night long - I wake up all the time and here I thought it was just stress.

The upside to all of this? The warm bed helps me fall asleep faster. I used to lay awake in bed for hours - damn insomnia!

Tonight...I shall turn the blanket way down and see if that helps. If not - I'm pulling the plug!

Anyways... Treatment 6/33 done and over with! The only downside was having to go out at 8:30am on my day off from work...Oh well - only 4 more of those Mondays to go!

Advent Day 3: How funny that this one says this on a day like today!!

5/33 = 1 week down!

5 to go!

Week 1 of radiation was fine.

A lot of people ask me how I feel and I feel fine. I get asked a lot "what's it like"? And I tell them that I lay on a table that is adjusted for my upper body height, my arms go above my head and into a guide that keeps them there while I hold onto a little spongy like donut to keep my hands occupied as to not move my arms, then the radiology therapists line me up with a laser via my tiny tattoos (1 centered between my breasts and another is aligned to that tattoo, but on the side of my body) - once we're ready to go (this is the longest part of the daily process) and everything is on target, the therapists leave the room and I lay there watching a kick ass plasma tv with serene pictures of nature flashing through like a slide show and listening to my favorite XM Radio channel 82 (The System). I hardly notice the linear accelerator machine working or moving or delivering radiation to my breast.

I don't feel much - other than sometimes my breast feels like I am laying in the hot sun for a few seconds and it penetrates my skin. No pain though.

I take these few moments each day to concentrate on my breathing (as best I can), I try to think of calming things so that I can just relax. I do this, because for a few minutes each day, I can meditate and know that it'll be the best part of my day.

This place is so personable, pleasant and I never feel like a patient...I feel like a person. The staff there are all just so wonderful. For what it's worth, I just feel blessed.

In other news - it was really cold yesterday while I decorated the outside of my group home - just glad it's as done as it's gonna get. I think winter is here! We might even get a few inches of snow tonight and to
morrow!

Tomorrow, I'll show you the cute advent calendar I made for this year. I just have to take pictures of it!

Advent Calendar

I recently made an Advent Calendar to celebrate "25 days of Chrimstas". I'll post each day accordingly! Click on image to see a larger image!

Do you have an Advent Calendar? What's on your calendar?

The original concept came from 2 Peas In a Bucket
