TAXES!

My bank account just alerted me that I received my state tax return!

I hope that sinks in! Seriously, I made a promise to myself that I would NOT go shopping with my tax return (which was very nice to me this year) and instead I'd pay off one of my credit cards and pay half of another...which would wipe out the complete return.

It's amazing the things you "think you need" when you have lots of money in your bank account! It's not that I am bad with money, because I am actually very good with it! I can spend, spend, spend like no other and I can stretch a $20 for a couple weeks if I had to. I'm not in major debt. (Even though I started off the new year with a $2800 dental loan!!!) But I have NO RETIREMENT and I HAVE NO REAL SAVINGS that would save my ass if I needed saving! Last year I said that in 2007 I would get a 401K rolling and that I'd start up an IRA or some kind of extra savings that I can't touch until I'm WAY OLDER!

I've seriously been trying to live the philosophy of BASIC NECESSITIES and not overdo materialistic things. I WILL NOT GO SHOPPING!
